Yup, that’s what I did. After a bit of mourning for the life and careerI loved, I decided that the reason that this happened was so I could pursue my dream. With a little help from godaddy, a friend who knew how to build a website and a friend who could design me a logo and business cards… I was officially, Official. I was a business owner!
I lived in California at the time – land of sunshine, fake boobs, foreclosures and really expensive cocktails. Who I am kidding… really expensive everything. I needed a lower cost of living and I needed it stat! So I sold the big things, gave some things away, threw away some others and packed up the important things and moved my life to the heart of Texas.
I’d like to tell you all that things have been smooth since then. That I’ve been successful out of my own, that clients are knocking down my door, that money has not been an issue at all – but I can’t. If I could, I wouldn’t have a reason for writing this. I wouldn’t have a year of stories. I wouldn’t be more motivated because of the year I’ve had and I certainly wouldn’t have as many expensive handbags in my closet.
While I thought of selling drugs and other lucrative “side business” to supplement my income, I figured the most honest way I could earn some money would be to babysit. I found an agency, learned how to save someone’s life by pushing on their chests and blowing into their mouths (I hope to never have to use this knowledge as I’m positive I’d still screw it up… despite officially being CPR certified) and boom! I was ready to be a “temporary nanny”.
And that’s where the fun begins…
